Mary, do you write your own poetry? I was just wondering…you may be interested in a book by Georgia Heard called Awakening the Heart. It’s a text for elementary and middle school teachers, and it’s the most interesting book about poetry that I have read thus far. She also wrote a colletion of children’s poems called “Creatures of the Earth, Sea and Sky: animal poems” (maybe your grandson would like this). If you get a chance, check them out.
I loved the poems that you wrote for your children…they brought me to tear up a bit – especially the ones you wrote for your boys – very powerful. Gram’s Lament is excellent as well. I hope you feel differently now. How did your children react to Gram’s Lament? I wonder.
Murph, I hope you are ok.
Thanks for sharing your poetry…I’m going to print your poems and add them to my collection.
It’s a bitterly cold day, but the sun shining and the days are slowing beginning to get longer – enjoy the bright skies.
